The Different Stages of an Edible High

Edibles, you either love them or hate them. Unlike the high you get from smoking THC, processing cannabis through your liver, rather than your blood stream, delays the psychoactive effects. This makes knowing how much to ingest pretty difficult, especially for new users. Even low dose edibles can have a stronger high than smoking flower. Rule #1 for edibles, always start with a small amount. Like they say - You can always eat more, but you cant eat less.

Whether you are making them, or you picked up some Korova cookies from your local dispensary, you know your day is about to get a lot more interesting.

Time to eat!

When you know you should start slow but the edibles are oh so yummy!!!

Oh the dreaded waiting game.

You just chowed down half a brownie, now what? Do you kick back and watch some TV? Maybe you should go run that errand before the THC kicks in? How about starting that laundry you have been putting off.

When it first hits you.

You might have just realized you have been staring at random Instagram pages for the past hour. Or maybe you have been listening to "Return of the Mack" 20 times in a row while you put away your clean clothes. (Yes this is a personal experience) Whatever you are doing, you are feeling pretty good.

Still Stoned.

Yep, you ate too much!

It happens, more often than not. You over estimated how much you could handle and that euphoric fun high is turning into a trip. You might start to get a headache, or nauseous, even paranoid. The most important thing to remember if you get to this point is that you WILL NOT DIE FROM A MARIJUANA OVERDOSE. In the history of the world, since the creation of time, no one has ever died from cannabis. If you are getting a headache, drink some water and lay down. If you have been drinking, you should stop immediately and hydrate (it is our strongest opinion that you should never mix alcohol and edibles). If you ever feel like you ingested too much, never be afraid to tell someone. The best part of the cannabis community is that nearly every cannabis user has gone through this experience before. You should never be too embarrassed to ask for help in these situations.

Wearing Off.

Edibles do last while, especially high dose edibles. If you didn't over ingest, you are probably a little sluggish but fine. Take a small hit and enjoy the high a little longer. If you ate too much, you are probably exhausted and telling yourself never again. Either way eating edibles are more a learning experience than anything else. Learn how your body reacts, how long it takes to kick in, and how do you feel after. Edibles are not for everyone, so don't be upset if your experience wasn't what you expected.
